Polyamide 12 / PA 12 - for strong coatings
Polyamide 12
Polyamide 12 (PA 12) is a powder characterized by high resistance to abrasion, chemicals and water. Due to the almost round grain geometry, the powders are ideal for techniques such as fluidized bed coatings, flame spraying and mini-coating processes as well as electrostatic coating.
Industries
Due to the optimized particle size distribution of the powders, a non-porous coating is ensured on wire products such as dishwasher racks, shopping carts and furniture. The high impact strength, abrasion resistance and elasticity of the high-performance polymer make it suitable for use in the automotive industry, such as automobile hood props, seat belt anchors, springs and latches. Polyamide 12 is also used as a textural additive in paints and varnishes.
Polyamide 12 coatings are characterized by high mechanical strength and chemical resistance as well as high elasticity even at low temperatures. These properties enable the powder to be used in pipelines and fittings in water systems, in cooling water lines in naval construction and in clarification plant and power plant lines.
Surfaces on medical products have special requirements in terms of resistance and hygiene. Surfaces finished with polyamide 12 are characterized by high abrasion resistance and a smooth structure. The finished coatings are thus easy to sterilize and inhibit bacterial growth due to the smooth surface. The low level of surface cracking provides little surface for invisible dirt and bacteria to attack.
